4 Common Myths About SEO

What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results. Find out more about SEO here.

Myth 1: Doing SEO once is sufficient

You may have seen some results from your previous SEO campaign and was satisfied with the boost of traffic, or on the other hand, be disappointed in the slow growth.

However, SEO is not a one-time-off event, neither is it a campaign that promises immediate results. Neglection or sudden withdrawal of SEO efforts can result in a dip in traffic to your website as new algorithms kicks in or with a linkrot.

Myth 2: Content is king… But SEO is queen

Content is indeed important in this digital age, however, content can do better in tandem with SEO, especially so for organic search traffic. With appropriate keywords and optimization, these contents can easily be found on the search engines.

Myth 3: SEO is for words only

Yes, Google is incapable of evaluating rich media like images and videos for SEO. However, because images and infographics contribute heavily to the overall experience users have on a site, they are not to be neglected! Fortunately, there are ways to allow Google crawlers to pick up on keywords on rich media which relates to your content. Such ways include saving these files with its keywords and giving it a suitable alt text.

Myth 4: You can’t start now

Because your competitor is the top result on the search engine does not mean that it is too late for you! Going back to pointer 1, SEO is a continuous race.
